AN OLD colonial house on Pulau Ubin could become the new visitors' information centre for the island's most beautiful beach, Tanjung Chek Jawa.
Lianhe Zaobao reported that using the house in this manner is one of the suggestions that will be made by the National Parks Board, Nature Society and other environmental groups in a proposal they are working on to protect the site and make it more accessible.
It
quoted NParks chief executive officer Tan Wee Kiat as saying that the house,
which has mock-Tudor gables and a chimney, was formerly known as 'No 1'.
It was built more than 100 years ago and used to house the managers of the
island's rubber plantations.
